An Untitled Film

Div III, Cut III

My blog has taken on a very boring form since we finished shooting.  So I suppose I should spice it up a bit and tell you more about my process now.

Right now I am on my third cut, which basically means that I have taken all of my footage and made three totally different films with it. The first one is terrible, the second one is ok, the third one is good. I’m on my way to discovering something wonderful I think. Now it’s time to start sprucing it up with sound editing, sound effects (really epic things like a phone ringing and footsteps in the snow), and color correction. I met with my composer, David, and we talked about music and it’s role in the film and different sounds and cool things like that. I met with my art designer, Rachel, and we talked about color and editing, and tone. I met with Zaike and his adviser, the wonderful Ellie Donkin, and they both gave me great feedback. Moral of the story, I’m getting pumped.

Imported Footage? Yes Indeed.

I finished importing all of my footage today, with the exception of the one scene we need to re-shoot thanks to some Amherst bros who will remain nameless. Overall, I’m feeling pretty good about everything that’s been shot. Now it’s a matter of picking the best takes and editing it all together. Piece of cake. I hope.

Update

I finally started importing footage and it is looking pretty good. Dan and I are already discussing things like color and sound. Very exciting. I should have a rough cut by the end of the week, and will maybe post a scene up here if I’m feeling saucy.

In other exciting news, tomorrow is the first day of my last semester as a college student. As Robbie Robertson would say, it’s the beginning of the beginning of the end of the beginning.

title-mania

I still need a title for my film. Please help. The person who comes up with the best title gets a prize. Probably a hug and some cookies.

Day 8

FINAL SHOOT! With the exception of three short shots outside…but you know, basically the final shoot.
